YouTube View Changes, Patreon's New Features, SUBtember + The Guild Kickstarter

Hello - and happy Monday! I wanted to quickly draw your attention to something new I've been doing occasionally: micro-articles. Last week, I wrote three (visible on the front page of TOS.gg but linked in this newsletter as well): one about YouTube, two about Twitch. The idea is to give you more context on a particular feature launch or story, along with my opinion. I know it's not revolutionary, and it's probably silly to personally write articles in an era of AI (so the SEO benefits are DOA, and I'm just giving more training data to the AI scrappers)... but sharing my opinion on a topic is something AI cannot reproduce, AND I think (one day) it could be a useful chronological library of features. • Twitch's SUBtember starts on Friday, and the promotion is nearly the same as it's been for the last two years.
• Twitch is testing a variety of Gifted Sub Callouts, including Complete the Goal, Next Badge, and Go-to-Gift.
• Twitch Sponsorships are now available to Affiliates.
• You can now post comments on Clips.
• Amazon and Twitch are being sued in a potential class action for using AI training data without permission or compensation. Full doc here.
• The Netherlands' Privacy Watchdog recommends opting out of AI training on Twitch.
• Odin Law shared insights on how Developers should mitigate risk in Twitch's AI training.
• Twitch promoted a partnership with CapCut's AI generation tool for highlights, social posts, and banners on creator Home pages.
• New Paid Badges: Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pichu.
• Twitch is sponsoring the Tokyo Games Show, with CEO Dan Clancy doing a keynote speech.
• Twitch updated the Monetized Streamer Agreement to include a clause specifically addressing Brazilian minors seeking to monetize.

🟥 YOUTUBE

• YouTube is now counting views on ALL videos from the very first frame play. This is a big change, but follows the same change they made on Shorts last year.
• YouTube Live now has Dual Stream (via stream key, rather than cropped) available to all eligible creators.
• YouTube is offering large creators money not to work with Netflix.
• YouTube is expanding the Stations feature to new formats.

⬛ TIKTOK

• TikTok Live now has a newsletter called The Creator's Cut written by creators who livestream on the platform.
• TikTok Live is adding AI-generated intros.
• TikTok is exploring sending money via DMs as a peer-to-peer payment system.
• TikTok is launching Live Traffic from Videos, which shows a Live indicator on videos using your music.
• TikTok settled a $400M suit over violations of children's privacy.

• LinkedIn is launching an AI-powered clipping tool for livestreamers.
