Twitch's Personalized Checkout Messages
Twitch is experimenting with allowing creators to write their own personalized checkout message when a viewer subscribes. During the experimental phase, it is currently opt-in under the Monetization > Subscription tab at the very bottom. When toggled on, you are prompted to 'Write a short thank-you message that will appear to viewers in checkout when they subscribe to your channel.' You have 150 characters to work with, and it will show an example of what it looks like on the checkout page.
Context:
Twitch has experimented with personalization in the past (Bonus Sub Benefits), but appears to be making a renewed effort to make subscribing more compelling. This includes things like GIFs for Tier 2/3 Subscribers, Creator Badge Drops, and new personalized Streamer Shouts. This comes as self-paid subscribers have generally trended downward since 2024.
My Thoughts:
As much as I'm including an important message about Twitch's sub split in the image above, this is a cute idea that lets creators add a little personalization to the checkout experience. Twitch leadership doesn't like ceding control of ANYTHING. BUT, creators are Twitch's best salespeople, and the more control they have, the better it will be for the platform. I hope this is successful and gives Twitch the data to stop white-knuckling the wheel.
