Twitch CEO: "We Failed", Halloween Events, Streamer Awards + Maya Raises $1M
Hello and welcome to the weekly recap! As usual, lots of things to catch you up on, especially in light of all the post-Twitchcon aftermath, but it's not all bad news! There are some great stories between the margins and things to look forward to, like the Streamer Awards, Maya raising a million dollars to expand her animal sanctuary, and so much more! So let's keep this intro short and get right into it!
🟪 TWITCH
- Path to Partner now requires six streams with a 75+ CCV, while maintaining a 75+ average, across two consecutive 30-day periods. It was previously 8 streams.

- Dan Clancy was interviewed at Twitchcon, where he was asked about the platform's future and what the platform is doing to keep women safe.
- Dan Clancy made a statement saying “We Failed” and promised a safety and event overhaul after the Emiru incident and other failures at Twitchcon.
- You can unlock the Crypt Clipper emote by downloading a clip between October 27 and November 2.
- Using Guest Star (Stream Together) between 1-5 times will unlock up to three emotes: Black Cat (1-2), Pumpkin Cat (3-4), Ghost Cat (5+)
- Together for Good returns November 17 - December 2. Donating to charities via the Twitch Charity Tool will unlock four different badges and an emote. More details.
- Twitch is expanding the Roblox content tagging system to include Fortnite and Minecraft.
- You can now only have FIVE monetized accounts on Twitch.
- Twitch removed Prime Gaming branding and replaced it with Luna branding. Nothing functionally changes for now - just a branding change.
- Twitchcon's website now says, "See you in 2026." Late May in Rotterdam seems like a wonderful time of year.
- 8bitDee + 3llebelle are collecting feedback on Twitchcon accessibility.
- Canadian streamers need to complete a quick Canadian Tax Interview because of new Digital Platform Reporting regulations. It only takes 2 minutes.
- Half of the accounts created on Twitch over the last 6 months are set to Russian language.
- New Watch Streak notifications warn creators how many viewers may lose their streak if they don't create clips for them to watch. It also advises viewers that they might lose their streak.
- The House Oversight Committee's Twitch/Discord hearing is still planned; however, the government shutdown has delayed setting a new date.

- YouTube has started rolling out "Likeness Detection" for all Partner Program creators. This tool helps you detect AI matches of your facial likeness.
- You can now set a timer to stop doomscrolling on YouTube Shorts.
- YouTube Sponsorships have surged 54% year over year. Wow!
- Communities is now rolled out to all users on Desktop.
- YouTube is partnering with TalkShopLive to add its livestream shopping simulcasting.
🟦 DISCORD & TWITTER X
- Discord has a Halloween-themed ringtone (until November 3).
- Discord is gearing up for the launch of Game Server rentals.
- Discord is expanding the In Case You Missed It feature to all Desktop users. The feature gives you an overview of popular posts, announcements, and upcoming events across the servers you're in.

- Threads has long-term plans to launch its own livestreaming feature.
