Twitch "Commercials", Roblox's Predator Problem, MrBeast $12M, + TikTok's New Community Guidelines

Hello and welcome to the weekly TOS.gg recap! This week, there's a ton of news, including Twitch's "Commercial" breaks, Roblox's Predator issues are only getting worse (it's stock is down 11% in the last week), MrBeast raised $12M live (setting a new live record), and TikTok is introducing new community guidelines in September, which have widespread implications. There's also SUBtember to start planning for, why brands are eyeing Vtubers, and as always, some paid opportunities, game keys, and industry jobs!

🟪 TWITCH
- Twitch appears to be running "Commercial Break in Progress" non-ads in place of ads. Speculation, but they likely don't have much ad inventory and perhaps are trying to annoy people into getting Turbo?
- SUBtember returns August 29 to October 1st. It's roughly the same as 2024, except there's no Bonus Bits, sadly. Details:
- 25% off 1-Month and 3-Month Subs (Self, Not Gifted)

- Bonus Subs when Gifting 5+ (Sept 26 to Oct 1)
- Treasure Trains start at Level 2 (instead of 5). They will appear more frequently.

- There was an unannounced 20% subscriber discount for ~8 hours late on August 11th.
- Twitch is attempting to attract more of the Roblox community to the platform with new Prompted Stream Tags and a creator club.
- New Global Emote: PsyCatNod
- CEO Dan Clancy is speaking at a Saudi government-funded event in Riyadh. Concerning implications.
- Twitch responded to 5 UserVoice suggestions over the last week, the first time responding to any in nearly a year.
🟥 YOUTUBE
- YouTube has increased the Image Post limit to ten (up from 5).
- Shorts Creators with access to BrandConnect will be able to create clickable CTA panels.
- One in ten of the fastest-growing YouTube channels are AI-generated.
⬛ TIKTOK
- TikTok Live launched a new "Live in the Sun" Campaign with various rewards.
- TikTok's new Community Guidelines go into effect on September 13, 2025. LIVE creators will now be responsible for everything that happens on their stream, even if it is through third parties (TTS/translation/viewer comments). There are also several other implications for content with this update.
🔲 OTHERS
- Kick replaced their app icon with MrBeast to celebrate his charity stream on their platform. They also released a new Global Emote: emojiHydrate
