šŸ“¢ | Clips Leaderboard, Marathon, X vs Twitch, and YouTube Supports NO FAKES Act

Hello and welcome to this week's recap! I'm feeling productive today and hope you are as well, so let's get right into it!

Platform Updates

šŸŸŖ TWITCH
  • Twitch will soon launch the Clips Leaderboard and reward the top 3 clippers (by views) in chats with a unique chat badge. This functionality mimcs Bits and Gift Sub leader in being duration based and channel specific.
  • A new visual update to the Revenue Dashboard includes new subtotals by category.
  • Another group of streamers is being subjected to the Ghost Train experiment, which sees Hype Trains start for non-monetary activity.
  • AutoMod has a new purple shield badge (not active yet, though).
  • A new experiment is testing Recommended Categories in the sidebar.
  • Dan Clancy says his decision to unban Adin Ross had nothing to do with "business considerations." An insane thing for the CEO of an Amazon-owned company to say.
  • On April 11-12, you could unlock a Kitty Marathon Badge by subscribing or gifting a sub within the category.
  • A new "for_source_only" parameter was added for Shared Chat.
  • The Brand Partnership Team is launching a monthly show called Backstage. The target market appears to be advertisers and brands.
  • The 100-hour Highlight and Upload limit will take effect on April 19th. This is an unconfirmed rumor, but Twitch may extend the deadline to May 19th.
šŸŸ„ YOUTUBE
  • YouTube is testing a "Subscribe+" button that combines functionality in a drop-down menu format for subscriptions and channel memberships.
  • Shorts now has an official guide on initial best practices written by YouTube.
  • YouTube intends to support the NO FAKES Act by allowing creators to submit takedowns for content using their face or voice and by launching new tools to help creators detect AI depictions of them on YouTube. More details.
  • YouTube may be launching Daily Timer to slow down your Shorts doomscrolling.

šŸŸ¦ DISCORD & TWITTER X
  • Twitch and Elon Musk's Twitter agreed to pause the Musk advertising boycott lawsuit as long as Twitch did some unnamed things before the year's end; however, the judge denied the agreement, saying she wouldn't keep the case paused that long.
