Hello, and welcome to November! I've made another update to the newsletter this week that hopefully will make it easier to find exactly what you may be interested in! I have several other changes coming up, so it's a great time to send me feedback if there's anything you'd like me to consider adding to the newsletter! Exciting times ahead! But with that, let's just jump right into the recap!
Platform Updates
šŖ TWITCH
- Blocked Terms in your chat now default to showing that someone posted something held by Automod. Moderators can see Public Blocked Terms, but only the creator will see Private Blocked Terms. The usage of these terms will now be tracked in a user's chat logs. You can turn off the chat alert in your Chat Settings.
- A new Content Classification Label for content that focuses on "Politics and Sensitive Social Issues" was introduced. Sometimes, the label is not needed (neutral fact-based education/intermittent mentions.) Read it thoroughly here. Note: Twitch does not suspend users for inaccurate labeling but does warn you if you are reported. Twitch can lock it to your channel if you fail to apply the label after repeated warnings.
- CEO Dan Clancy says, "Hate and Harassment have no place on Twitch" in a blog post.
- Digiday reported on Dan Clancy's current struggle to defend Twitch from claims of anti-Semitism and lack of brand safety. This provides a good overview of what's been happening.
- Twitch CMO Mikey Minty spoke at the Brand Safety Summit.
- The Ads Dashboard, Creator Home Headliner, and Creator Home Card now have callouts encouraging creators to run more ads.
- A sitewide "Together for Good" charity promotion from December 3 to 15 will reward charitable giving with Chat Badges.
- The DJ Program has a new help article discussing rules around Playing Pre-release Music.
- A slight redesign of the Guest Star landing page was published this week.
- According to Twitch's Brand Partnership lead, the company uses AI to create instant replays of gaming content that brands can sponsor directly.
- Chase, who worked as a PR at Twitch before leaving in 2019, shared a thread about the platform's history with politics.

- Goals for Super Chats are currently being tested. You can set the number, amount, a timer, and a reward for achieving the goal.
- YouTube Studio is getting an upgrade to introduce Community in place of Comments, an improved Audience Dashboard, and a Community Spotlight of your most engaged viewers.
ā¬ TIKTOK
- TikTok will host "Super Livestreams" with celebrities during the holiday shopping season as part of a push for TikTok Shop. But, brands are weary about it.

- Elon Musk claims they are working on rolling out video monetization.
- Community Notes are being sabotaged, according to a report by the CCDH.
- Twitter X may launch "Lightning Notes" that show in under 20 minutes.
- Twitter X is now worth less than Truth Social.

- The November Patch Notes update resolved a bunch of issues across the platform.
- Hype Squad Houses appear poised to be shut down.
- You'll soon be able to buy HD Streaming as a consumable Discord feature (currently limited to Nitro users.)
- Discord released its H1 2024 Transparency Report. They took action on 364,939 individual accounts, 750 servers, and 3,617,515 server members.

- Substack Live now lets you have three people on a stream (up from 2).
- The UFC has partnered with Kick to launch original content and exclusive streams.
- The Kick Creator Incentive Program claims to have paid creators $23.5M.
