📢 || Aftermath's Clancy Report, Waiting Rooms, Twitter X Gaming, and Twitchcon Week

Hello, and welcome to the Monday Recap! It's an exciting week ahead as we head into Twitchcon, where I expect a few announcements (some of which I made predictions on at the beginning of the year). While I'm not personally attending, I'll be covering it live on stream on both YouTube and Twitch! For those who are, I hope you have a great and safe time! (And, if you hear any interesting Twitch-related things, Discord/DM/email me - even if you think I'll already know!)

Let's jump into this week's news recap, game keys, and careers!

Pre-Twitchcon

Twitch News

  • Aftermath did a deep dive into Twitch's current situation, the Streamer PR campaign, and why Twitch Staff don't have faith in Clancy's leadership. It's an eye-opening, must-read report!
  • Twitch no longer allows Waiting Room channels. These channels have increased in the last few months, with hundreds of channels capitalizing on creators and content they don't have permission to broadcast while monetizing the content with subs, bits, and ads.
  • If you turn on the function for your channel, viewers can now share your clips directly to their TikTok or YouTube channels.
  • Subtember's Bonus Bits promotion started last week but ends today (Monday).
  • Guest Star's Shared Chat feature (which will be launched soon) now has EventSub/API details for developers.
  • You'll now have a new chat badge if you watched at least 15 minutes of ZEVENT.
  • Twitch Payouts: There's been rampant concern about Twitch not paying creators on Friday for August's Payout. While not common, it can take 3-5 business days from processing to payout receipt. You can check your payout status here.
  • Radio France did a segment on the copyright-infringing cartoon streams on Twitch.
  • Twitch's VP of Product, Jeremy Forrester, was on the Product School Podcast.
  • Twitch's CMO, Rachel Delphin, was on the Campaign Chemistry Podcast.
  • Twitch's Press Center now says it has 105M monthly visitors, up from 80M just a few months ago.
  • Twitch's CMO is speaking on a panel at the Variety Summit in LA.
  • After collecting data from 100+ DJs, I estimate the new DJ Program tax impact on earnings to be around 30%. I made a video explaining the findings and wrote a primer on the DJ program.
