Twitch News
- The new Clip Creation flow is slated to be released to everyone later this summer, with an initial group very soon. Best of all, it seems that when viewers create clips, they will automatically create vertical clips for the streamer.
- When the new intentional clip-saving system may reduce clip quantity by up to 76% - that's how many clips Twitch believes are unintentional.'
- According to Needham, Twitch is now valued at $46B. That's up from $45B a year ago.
- Eurogamer interviewed the head of partnerships and VP of product about the future of Twitch.
- Twitch unbanned Donald Trump this week after suspending him indefinitely after the Capital Riots. A spokesperson says Twitch "believe there is value in hearing from Presidential nominees directly,."
- According to the Federal Election Commission, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy contributed to Robert F Kennedy's campaign in November. He says it must have been his wife.
- Twitch's new DJ Program launches on August 1st, with a seven-day promotional event from August 8th to 14th. DJs are being invited to the campaign now.
- Mikey Minty, the Chief Monetization Officer, is speaking on a panel about the creator economy at FT Live in September. If anyone is attending, please let me know!
- AMD Radeon users (900-series or newer) can now access Twitch's Enhanced Broadcasting via OBS.
Streaming Industry News
- YouTube is the most widely used video streaming service in Canada, with 81% coverage, while Twitch sits at 4% coverage. Netflix is at 21%, Disney+ at 10%.
- YouTube reintroduced the "View Email Address" field, suggesting its disappearance may have been a bug.
