Hello! After the flurry of updates from last week, this week was a nice breather. That said, there were still some interesting stories across the streaming space, including YouTube Live finally doing something (sadly, it's not improving live chat), Kai Cenat continuing to dominate the space, and Hololive vtubers taking over a Dodgers game! So, let's just get right into it!
Twitch News
- Twitch has been on a company-wide summer break since Twitchcon Rotterdam 2024.
- According to France's telecom regulator ARCEP, Twitch's bandwidth usage decreased by ~25% in France between 2022 and 2023.
- F1 Manager will have a Twitch-branded livery on release.
- Amazon Ads is running ads on TikTok to promote Twitch ads.
- Twitch's VP of Community Product and Engineering, Jeremy Forrester, was on the Products That Count podcast.
- Members of the community are asking Twitch to recognize Disability Pride Month on the platform.
Last week, I asked those of you who attended Twitchcon Rotterdam what the FIRST brand that came to mind was. The answers were an interesting mix; 25% of the responses were unique brand mentions. So, I decided to narrow focus ONLY to the brands with repeated mentions. Gamer Supps, Logitech, and Delta Force topped the charts.

- Tiltify now offers customizable campaign pages.
- Amazon Prime Gaming has seemingly ended all in-game reward perks.
- Noice has added Valorant as a supported game for their interactive streaming service.
- Discord released its June list of Patch Notes. It now supports HEVC for uploaded video, improved image compression on mobile, and tons more!
- Night Media laid off the leadership of the team tasked with turning live streamers and YouTubers into TV and Movie Stars.
- YouTube released its 2024 Culture and Trends report and dives into creator fandoms.
- Fourthwall now reveals other product shots by hovering, and you can hover to preview different product colors.
- YouTube now has a policy that allows you to request the removal of AI-generated content that mimics your face or voice.
- Douyu, China's Twitch-like streaming service, announced a major dividend, causing the stock to soar 43%.
- TikTok is developing a new chatbot, Genie, which may even include deploying your own virtual live streamer in-app.
