🟪 TWITCH
- In a Fast Company interview, CEO Dan Clancy says YouTube, Facebook, and Kick copied Twitch with their live streaming offerings.
- NASA plans to stream on Twitch from the ISS on Wednesday, February 12.
- New Global Emote: SimsPlumbob (Appears to have been removed already.)
- Twitch introduced new cover art for Music, ASMR, Sports, Science & Technology, and Special Events.
🟥 YOUTUBE
- Research by Digital I says long-form content is gaining more viewing time than shorter content.
- YouTube is buying ads on TikTok to poach creators.
- Communities have now expanded to even more creators.
- Thanks to YouTube, you can now get a free three-month subscription to Repurpose. The service converts TikTok content into YouTube Shorts.
- YouTube had $10.5B in advertising revenue in Q4 2024.
⬛ TIKTOK
- TikTok is adding a calendar system for upcoming Live events.
- Donald Trump's new Sovereign Wealth Fund idea suggests that they may buy TikTok. However, the fund will likely not be funded before the deadline.
- If you are an American who deleted TikTok from your Android device, you may soon be able to download an official Android Package Kit (APK) through TikTok.
- TikTok appears to be expanding the test of a Dislike button.
🟦 TWITTER X
- Morgan Stanley is aiming to sell $5.5B of TwitterX's debt.
⏹️ DISCORD
- A new Discord Redesign is starting to be released to some users.
- The Monthly Patch Notes released included improvements to the Android app, improved privacy settings, and many bug fixes.
🔲 OTHERS
- Kick has entirely rewritten its Community Guidelines. You can see all the differences here.
- Spotify and UMG entered into a partnership to restructure monetization. It sounds like subscriptions will soon only give access to some content; you'll need add-on subscriptions to access other content.
- Rumble introduced a new Creator Dashboard.
